Mrs.
Adams has earned several advanced degrees and
certifications. She graduated from Appalachia
High School in 1973 with an advanced diploma.
Mrs. Adams received an Associate’s Degree from
Mountain Empire College in 1979 and a
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, NK-4,
from Clinch Valley College in 1987, having
graduated Magna Cum Laude. She earned her
Master’s Degree in School Counseling from
Radford University in 1989. In 1991, she was
awarded licensure from Virginia Commonwealth
University as a Visiting Teacher/School Social
Worker. In 2003, Mrs. Adams earned a Master’s
Degree in Administration and Supervision from
Radford University. Mrs. Adams has been employed
by the Wise County School Division for the last
twenty-two years and has been responsible for a
wide variety of duties. She began her career
with the Wise County School Division in 1987
when she was employed as a home/school
coordinator. She then worked as a school
counselor for the next three years until
assuming the role of visiting teacher/school
social worker. Mrs. Adams remained in this
position until 2001 when she assumed the
position of Project Director for the 21st
Century Community Learning Center. She remained
as Project Director until 2002 when she changed
positions and served as Coordinator of Pupil
Personnel Services for one year. In 2003, Mrs.
Adams became the Supervisor of Special Education
and Student Services and since 2005, she has
served as the Director of Special Education and
Student Services.
