Our School

Appalachia Elementary is an award-winning elementary school in the mountains of Wise County in Southwestern Virginia. Fully Accredited by the State of Virginia. We currently serve   students in grades Pre-K through seventh.
The school is staffed by a Principal, Assistant Principal, Guidance Counselor,  ,Librarian, Technology Facilitator,
Reading Resources Instructor , Math Resource
Instructor. A Pre K program, Title One.

Appalachia Elementary was opened in 1976 and continues to serve the educational
needs of the community. AES campus is located on Kent Junction Road on the former site of the old Kelly View School. When the current building was built the old school was moved behind the AES building. It still stands today reminding us of the days of the old one room schools. Students from time to time get to tour the old school and see what it would have been like going to school in a one room school.

Our Vision

Appalachia Elementary School will provide a safe environment for optimal development of our students in the area of intellectual, social, cultural, physical and emotional growth.
