Our
Beliefs:
- All students deserve
an opportunity for the best education possible.
- Each student comes to
school with different backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles, which
must be adequately addressed.
- Our school exists for
the chief purpose of facilitating learning for all students.
- All teachers must set
high goals and standards for their students and then help them to attain
those goals and standards.
- The learning community
at Coeburn High School is composed of teachers, administrators, support
staff, students, parents, and the members of the community, all of whom have
a responsibility in the success of our students.
- Assessment involves
not just testing, but the whole scope of the educational experience,
including classwork, class performance, oral and written presentations, and
interaction with other students and with the teacher.
- The entire learning
community at Coeburn High School must be committed to continued reflection
and improvement if we are to enable our students to function as contributing
members of the twenty-first century.
MISSION
STATEMENT
Because we
view learning as a lifelong process, which prepares individuals not only for
short-term success but also for long-term growth and development, we, the
faculty of Coeburn High School, believe that our mission is to establish a
learning environment that encourages students to develop and grow in order to
reach their fullest potential as positive, contributing members of an
ever-changing, complex twenty-first century society.
