Judy Abbott is instructor for Advanced Placement United States History at the VSEN-Wise Electronic
Classroom. She has taught secondary social science for 27 years and
has studied at the
University
of
Tennessee-Knoxville, the
University
of
Maryland and The
University
of
Virginia's College at Wise.
Ms. Abbott has taught AP U.S. History for more than 12 years and has attended A.P. Seminars at Maryville College, Western Kentucky University, North Carolina State University, Duke University,
The University of North Carolina at Asheville, Wake Forest University, the University of Virginia, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and the AP Institutes at Oak Ridge, Tennessee,
Atlanta, Georgia, and most recently
The Smithsonian Institution.
Ms. Abbott and
her husband Mike, currently reside in Wise, Virginia. They lived for
seven years in
Munich,
Germany
where their
daughter Kate, was born. Mike is an insurance agent/attorney in Wise County and
Kate lives in
Knoxville
with her husband.
She is a senior publications specialist for the
University
of
Tennessee.
Ms. Abbott, a "certified sports nut",
loves
University of
Tennessee
sports, PGA golf, and UVA-Wise football. Her hobbies include
contract bridge, her book club, and traveling. She is state
recruitment chairman of her college sorority, Chi Omega, and
is vice-president of the Upper East Tennessee/Southwest Virginia Chi
