RESPECTING OTHERS

Conduct - Respecting Others At Pound

RESPECTING OTHERS IS A PART OF PROPER CONDUCT

Respect For ALL

STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND SCHOOL PERSONNEL

  • Students are expected to show proper respect to their fellow students, to visitors, to teachers, and to all school personnel.

  • Intentional classroom disruption, rudeness, obscene language or gestures or any other manifestation of disrespect will not be tolerated.

  • Any throwing of food in the cafeteria will be considered a serious offense.

  • Petting in any form will not be tolerated on school grounds or on school buses.

  • Public display of student affection during the regular school day, at extra-curricular activities, and on the school bus shall not be tolerated.

CONSEQUENCES

If a student is caught being disrespectful or displaying inappropriate behavior the following will occur:

  • An investigation and student conference will be held.

  • Parents or guardian may be notified.

  • Suspension, either in-school or out-of-school may be assigned.

  • Referral may be mad to the Wise County Discipline Committee.


Misbehavior Not Tolerated

MAJOR DISRUPTIONS, SUCH AS FIGHTING AT A SPORTING EVENT OR ANY EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY

  • (A) Parent notification.

  • (B) Immediate suspension from the event.

  • (C) Twelve weeks or more of attendance at extra-curricular activities suspended during the current school year.

  • (D) In-school or out of school suspension if deemed necessary by the administration.

CLASS DISTURBANCE/DISRUPTION:

Any behavior (as determined by the classroom teacher or other school staff) that disrupts the learning and/or school environment.

A student shall not interfere with the orderly process of instruction. Misbehavior in class will not be tolerated. The following are examples of misbehavior but the examples are not an exclusive list:

  • repeated talking without permission;

  • throwing paper wads;

  • making odd noises;

  • playing radios, games, and the like;

  • display of obscene or inappropriate materials; and

  • showing disrespect for instructional staff or other students.

CONSEQUENCES

  • (A) Parent Notification.

  • (B) In-school or out of school suspension if deemed necessary by the administration.
