A commitment to excellence and continuous improvement are prominent goals at Powell Valley Primary.   Enhancing these efforts is a dedicated teaching staff, which is committed to providing educationally sound programs, and services to meet the needs of our students.  Through all our efforts, Powell Valley Primary can grow and prosper, and be an exemplary leader for tomorrow's schools.

The teaching staff at Powell Valley Primary adheres to the following indictors for instruction:

Research shows that students are more attentive in intellectually challenging, businesslike, threat-free, task-oriented classrooms where they receive immediate feedback.  A key to businesslike classroom is not time-on-task alone but "academic learning time" (ALT).   ALT is the amount of time students actually spend on an appropriate learning activity in which they are achieving a high rate of success.   Researchers have found that in effective classrooms, teachers waste less time in starting and ending instructional activities and spend more time with curricular materials that match students' interests and abilities. Effective teachers also build high expectations for students and themselves and keep in close contact with students' parents.   Therefore, teachers at Powell Valley Primary include the following indicators in daily instruction:
