Course Description

Culinary Arts students study planning, selecting, storing, purchasing, preparing and serving food and food products; basic nutrition, sanitation, and food safety; the use and care of commercial equipment; serving techniques; and entrepreneurship opportunities within the field of culinary arts are emphasized.

 

Certification

This course may assist the student in preparing for the following certification examinations, national assessments, or licensure examinations approved by the Virginia Board of Education:
  • ACCESS (American Culinary Federation, Inc-ACF)
  • Commercial Foods Assessment (NOCTI)
  • Food Production, Management, and Services Assessment (NOCTI)
  • ProStart Program Certification-Levels 1 and/or 2 (Education Foundation of the National Restaurant Association)
  • Retail Commercial Baking Assessment (NOCTI)
