Course Description

This course of study involves the basic principles and fundamentals used to acquire the skills needed to complete various types of drawings and industrial processes in the professional institutions of Engineering, Architecture and Surveying. Emphasis will be placed on instruments and their use, design and reproduction, computer technology (AUTOCADD, Inventor, G.I.S., G.P.S.), math, drafting techniques, safety in the lab, and the organization of plans and documents. Area’s of specialized study will also be implemented.
 

 

Certification

American Design Drafting Association     www.adda.org

This course may assist the student in preparing for the following certification examinations, national assessments, or licensure examinations approved by the Virginia Board of Education:
  • Architectural Drafting Assessment (NOCTI)
  • AutoCAD 2000 Certification (Brainbench)
  • AutoCAD 2002 Certification (Brainbench)
  • AutoCAD 2040 Certification (Brainbench)
  • CAD Assessment (NOCTI)
  • Drafter Certification (American Design Drafting Association)
  • General Drafting and Design (National Occupational Competency Testing Institute)

 

 

 

Dual Enrollment

This course allows students to earn up to 12 college credits through Dual Enrollment at Mountain Empire Community College.
