Course Description

Medical Systems Administration is meant to open the door to the medical field in one capacity or another.  We are using this class as a springboard into either the Certified Nursing Assistants class or the fields of medical secretary, medical transcriptionist, insurance billing, medical coder, or ward clerk.  This class is a two semester class and dual enrollment is possible through Mountain Empire Community College for four semester hours of credit.

The student learns the importance of professionalism in the workplace, including ethics and the patients right to privacy.  Communication skills in the work environment is also stressed.  Students will also be introduced to basic anatomy terms and medical abbreviations. The class gives the student a good base on which to build a career in the medical field regardless of which direction they choose.
