Nail Technology is a competency based program that is
provided through a sequential set of learning steps that
address specific tasks necessary for state board
preparation, graduation, and skills necessary for an
entry level job in the beauty industry. Subject areas
include manicuring, pedicuring, acrylic, fiberwrap,
and gel nails as well as air and free hand nail art.
Subject matter will be presented by lecture and
demonstration. The use of field trips, guest speakers,
projects, computer programs, activities, and related
teaching methods will be used in the delivery of the
material for this program.
Students enrolled in Nail Technology will be eligible
to take the VA State Board after satisfactorily
completing two consecutive semesters in the nail tech
program, which meet the standards set by the Virginia
State Board. Students must also adhere to the attendance
policies set by the Wise County Schools.
