Technology & Design
Prerequisite: Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. Students need
to be self-motivated, be able to work in small groups,
and work independently. Reading and comprehension on
grade level is a must.
Course Description: Technology and Design is a one
semester program that consists of experience as at the
high school level. It introduces students to a broad
nature of technology through a planned sequence of
specially designed hands-on experiences.
Course Content and Objectives: Through laboratory
activities in which they learn to make choices and
decisions in response to technologically relevant
problems, students gain insight into the underlying
fundamentals of technology.
The ideal situation is to have the students work in
pairs. Student teams change partners each time they
rotate to a new module. Students should cooperate with
each other to accomplish their activities. Some
activities are dependent on the students helping each
other, while other activities allow the student to work
independently. Some modules may be more effective, when
done as a group or class. These activities have a
tendency to increase the competitiveness and enthusiasm
among students.
No certifications are available for this class.
